Plays in the Parks
Plays in the Parks is the signature event of HartBeat Ensemble’s Open-Air theater program. The series invites its audiences to lounge in the grass while taking in a different combination of short plays for free each weekend.

Fun, Free, Family Friendly
Begun in 2006, Plays in the Parks feature broad physical comedy, music and dancing to tell entertaining and informative stories. As always, the plays are based entirely on interviews with members of the Greater Hartford community. Plays in the Parks tour Hartford and surrounding area parks each weekend in July.

Five Years in the Parks
In July 2010, HartBeat celebrated the 5th Anniversary of Plays in the Parks with a “Best of” series. The Ensemble brought back a variety of its original, interview-based plays and musicals from previous years.
Previous year’s themes included, “The economy hits home” (2009); “Connecticut’s health care crisis” (2008); “Homelessness in Connecticut” (2007); and “Work stories” of Greater Hartford’s everyday citizens (2006).
