Story Circles
Drawing from the storytelling technique developed by John O'Neal, co-founder of the Free Southern Theater and the Junebug Productions theater company, Story Circles provide a participatory process that encourages individuals to openly share personal stories and experiences within a safe and supportive environment.
Who are they for?
Everyone can participate in Story Circles! This includes college students, educators, teaching artists, workplace colleagues, affinity groups, and more. The prompt question is customized to the needs of the group and everyone is given an opportunity to speak and to be heard.
“...students reported feeling more connected to their peers, as they listened closely to their stories, appreciating the uniqueness of each individual’s story, while also finding common ground as human beings.”
-Bridget Franco, faculty at
College of the Holy Cross
